Boulton’s Statement on Reynolds Signing Bills
Des Moines, IA – State Senator Nate Boulton, Democratic candidate for governor, made the following statement in response to Gov. Reynolds signing bills to further cut higher education and important state programs.
“Undercutting our future shouldn’t be something that is celebrated,” said Boulton. “We need leadership on education, starting with preschool through to apprenticeships and two and four-year degrees. We don’t do that by slashing budgets, increasing student debt loads, and making it harder for students to choose the profession of teaching. Iowans expect our state to be a shining example for education, but once again this administration sets the wrong example and the quality of our education system will suffer the consequences.”
